Focus on Making Yourself Better, not Thinking You are Better

Well, in life, it is easy for one to fall into the trap of thinking about how they measure up to others. However, we are all different from one another. As we all have different qualities, each of us grow at different pace, in different areas of life.

Sometimes, people feel better about themselves by comparing their achievements, looks, or talents to someone else’s. But there’s a much better way to grow and be truly fulfilled. Focus on improving yourself rather than believing you are better than others.

When you constantly compare yourself to others, it can:

  • Place one in the delusion of superiority complex, which could develop arrogance in individuals.
  • Place one in the delusion of inferiority complex, which can hurt one’s confidence.
  • Distract one from working on one’s own goals.

Comparisons don’t help in the long run because everyone’s journey is different. One might only see the highlights of someone else’s life, not the struggles they’ve faced.

The power of self-improvement

Instead of comparing yourself to others, focus on becoming a better version of yourself. Self-improvement helps one:

  • Build skills and confidence.
  • Feel a sense of accomplishment.
  • Stay focused on your personal goals and growth.

How to Focus on Self-Improvement:

  • Set personal goals and achievements.
  • Take a look at areas of your life that needs improvements. Learn and unlearn.
  • Celebrate your progress: Recognize your achievements, no matter how small. Progress is better than perfection.
  • Stay Humble: Remember that everyone has strengths and weaknesses. Respecting others journeys makes yours more meaningful.

One thinking they are better than others might feel good for a moment, but it doesn’t lead to real growth or happiness. True success comes from focusing on oneself; one’s goals, one’s learning, and one’s improvement. When one make this shift, one will not only grow as a person but also inspire others to do the same.

  1. Amen to this message. Yes indeed 🙏🏻 I wish this to go viral so everyone could understand. I don’t understand how people can honestly think they are better than others, but it’s like an epidemic 🥴 bravo Victor🙏🏻❤️‍🔥

    • I think this is very common than you think. Individuals, do this more often than you think, making comparisons at any even time, which is the highest factor for the cause of either inferiority, or superiority complex. Breaking out of the delusion comes with mental and spiritual growth.

However, i am not sure i understand what you mean by defining oneself and the believe that one is done.

      • I was speaking about living up to our own individual definition of self, not society, family, etc And I think we all know someone who believes themselves to be the finished product, in other words they believe they have no room for improvement.

      • I think I understand want you mean Violent. At the end of the day, don’t do life without God. That’s where true growth begins. True self discovery always leads to God, anything short of the truth leads to delusion, and arrogance.
