This topic has a lot to do with the human psychology than it has to do with, what is good and what is bad, what is true and what is false. What do I mean by Negative news, and good news?
Negative news in this context refers to any information which is considered bad, degrading, or and damaging to a certain individual or group’s reputation, and credibility. Good news in this context refers to any information which is considered ethically upright, and an appraisal to a certain individual or group.
Why is negative news louder than good news?
This has a lot to do with the human psychology, beliefs, and behavioral patterns. All of the factors are also considered in Ethics which is the study of morality in regard to right and wrong, good and bad, or just and unjust.
However, Morality in the human society, has a lot more to do with what is morally accepted, and little to do with what is morally right, good, or just. Now, this is where all of those factors come in, creating a controversy. The controversy is what drives the information.
To further examine this topic, i will use the societal ideal relationship, and love for reference. The morally accepted perfect couples living their lives, and happy in their relationships for example, barely get enough recognitions, and references, in comparison to failed marriages, and relationships. And what this does in return is, it creates a kind of fear in the society, which aids in facilitating all of these fears into reality, hence more failed marriages, and relationships. But that’s another topic entirely.

Bad news and false news are insidious. They overwhelm and confuse, destroying lives and dreams. People have had their entire lives upended and destroyed because of it. Sadly, that news is so loud that it downs out the good news and the truth.

The spread of information is actually necessary, either good or bad, they help create awareness. But if we are talking about misinformation and disinformation, that’s simply evil.

I seem to recall a story of someone who started a newspaper that printed ONLY good news. They went under because no one would buy it. I don’t know if it true, but it sure makes sense.

Well, it is either he/she doesn’t understand the news business, or he/she is simply doing it for fun and has a lot of money too, because news stations thrives on controversies.

I’m told that people are wired to prefer negativity. The news programs know it so that’s what they talk about. The social media companies know it so they fill your feed with it. A game streamer pointed out how you can see an advertisement for a video game and the person playing seems really bad at it He says they do that on purpose to irritate you so you’ll buy the game and prove how much better you are.

Well, not exactly. It is not that people prefer negative news, it is that people are more interested in negative news as they tend to trigger people.
