CHAPTER SIX: THE KEEPER OF ILLUSIONS

It’s 20th of October 2020. Its only been two days since Cosmos woke up. The doctor had told him that he was in a coma, so guess he was asleep for three years. Weird, he thought, never would he have expected such to happen to him, and that hurts even more than his body; years of your life stripped from you. What the doctor has failed to tell him is, half the world thinks he is a terrorist, the other half thinks it is just powerful individuals pulling strings. But there sure was a revolution, many had died, properties destroyed. They had found several passports, with images of the mask he had on, in the vehicle he had crashed in. They also found images of people perceived to be dead, and some plots of terrorist attacks, evidences that could put him away for life. How was he able to know that? The tv on the wall. His face is all over the news, he would think of himself as a celebrity. But then again, why is a person who just woke from a coma seeing that on tv?
Perhaps, it’s why his family had not come to see him yet. someone might be pushing buttons. But, would he really blame them? He is not sure of what happened exactly. After wondering why no one he knows has come to visit him, his family came in. Not all of them, at least the three women he recognize are there, and another, he does not yet know, she’s quite young;

“Who is this? Is this who I think it is?” Cosmos asked.

So the government is relieving her to our care.. after many bar hours definitely. Though, we haven’t quite come up with a name for her yet. We believe you should have an answer to that, So we just call her, Girl,” Said his mom.

Astra brought out her phone. She had made a video, one with compiled memories of their family, events he had missed that mostly includes Girl. She looks so beautiful, one beyond what he could have imagined her to be. He could remember having a baby with him, but why? He couldn’t remember. He wasn’t in Girl’s life, but he have come to have memories of her. In an instant, everything freezes, the tv on the wall, even his family. And there appeared one with a reflection of himself, sitting in the chair, at the extreme of the room. It’s a wide room.

“I have seen this before.
Perhaps, deja-vu?
Or was it from a half remembered dream?” Thought Cosmos.

In a moment, he heard voices, one coming from his reflection sitting in the conner of the room… Continue reading
